It All Begins With The Food.

I'm a firm believer everyone can cook. It's just about learning the tricks and techniques to go from bland to fabulous. Between my business Plan B, my family and those little unexpected events I've learned a few. Now I'm ready to open the vault and share my secrets.

My process in creating a meal is the same whether I’m catering a large party, cooking for my children or sending over a dish to a new neighbor.

It all begins with the food.

Once I know what I would like to serve the process goes into full drive. I’m a list girl and it all begins and ends there. The grocery list misses nothing. I make sure I check and double check each item I will need for a meal down to the salt. I check off what I have already and head to the store. With my list I am able to continue tweaking the meal in my head.

I love theme meals and events but the spontaneous nights are the most enjoyable. While I’m shopping for ribs to put on the grill, my mind starts to think that Texas country music would be fun to listen to while I’m cooking. As I begin chopping and prepping my ingredients, I sing along with the music and I begin thinking about the rest of the evening. I hunt around for bandanas to use for napkins, pie pans for plates, pull out some pictures of a family vacation to the dude ranch, and maybe, just maybe find a straw hat to wear. After our “cowboy meal”, watching City Slickers while having dessert is the perfect ending.

This is my passion and my love. I get excited cooking for 100 people who are celebrating a 50th anniversary or for my 3 kids when I’m lucky enough to get all of them together.

A little bit of planning and creativity can turn any meal into a special family event. My children honor me by telling their friends about the special food I prepare and how we celebrated any day from New Year’s Eve to just a Wednesday.

I am thrilled to share my experiences and ideas with anyone interested. Think about your favorite people in the world and think about your favorite time with them. Do you think of an extravagant event or do you remember the special times spent with people you love sharing a meal and sharing memories?

I’m looking forward to sharing my ideas on how to make any meal an event on a budget and with small effort.
